About this hunting block

General information

This block is situated in the coastal hills behind Brighton. It is surrounded by exotic forest and farmland.

The area is covered in a mixture of kānuka, broadleaf, podocarp and gorse, and the terrain is steep to rolling.

Getting there

Access is via Big Stone Road, just south of Brighton on the Brighton to Taieri Mouth Road. Around 2.5 km from the start of Big Stone Road, there is a locked gate on the right – the road is suitable for all vehicles to this point.

From there access is on foot through privately owned forest, and you need to ask the landholder for permission.

Landholders

For access to the hunting block, contact Wenita Forest Products Ltd. Hunting is not permitted on the access crossing private forestry, and access may not always be possible due to forestry operations.
