General information

This block is part of the Pūrākaunui Bay Scenic Reserve.

A popular campground for locals and tourists, particularly over the summer period, lies between the two forested portions of the block. The northern block is south facing and quite steep, whereas the southern block is mostly north facing and moderately rolling with mature podocarp forest. The beach is often used by New Zealand sea lions as a haul out site, and is popular with surfers.
