General information
This block is part of the Pūrākaunui Bay Scenic Reserve.
A popular campground for locals and tourists, particularly over the summer period, lies between the two forested portions of the block. The northern block is south facing and quite steep, whereas the southern block is mostly north facing and moderately rolling with mature podocarp forest. The beach is often used by New Zealand sea lions as a haul out site, and is popular with surfers.
Access
7 km from Owaka on the Papatowai Highway, turn left onto Purakaunui Falls Road. After about 5 km on this road turn left onto Long Point Road. After another few kilometres, turn left onto Purakaunui Bay Road, which runs between the two portions of the block.

Dogs
Dogs are allowed in this block with a hunting permit. They must be kept on a lead while in the vicinity of the campground and the beach.
