General information
The hunting area is on the true left of the Doubtful River and Nina Catchment. It adjoins the Lewis Pass National Reserve hunting area on its eastern boundary and is bounded by the Main Divide in the west.
The terrain is moderate to steep. Vegetation is predominantly beech forest with some shrubland, tussock and open tops. Pigs, red deer and chamois are present in low to moderate numbers.
The Nina track is a very popular tramp and other hunters and trampers may be encountered. Take precautions and identify your target. The Nina hut is usually full most weekends; it is advisable to also carry a tent.
Access
Foot access to the block is via the Nina and Doubtful Valley walking tracks. Both start from SH7.

The access routes do not require landholder permission.

Dogs are not permitted in the Lake Sumner Forest Park as kiwi are present.
