General information
This hunting area is located 80km north west of Christchurch between the Puketeraki Range and Arthur's Pass National Park.
Four separate blocks make up Lochinvar Forest in this remote sub alpine/alpine area. The terrain is moderate to steep. The vegetation is beech forest, scrub and tussock with some rock and scree tops.
Pigs, red deer and chamois are present in low to moderate numbers.
Other hunters and trampers may be encountered. Take precautions and identify your target.
Access
Foot access is possible via the Poulter Valley to Turnbull bivvy and the East Poulter Gorge.
Landholders
You must have landholder permission for access through Mount White Station, unless you are using Poulter Valley track on foot or mountain bike.
Be aware, Poulter Valley Track is closed for lambing from September to December.

Dogs
Dogs are not permitted in the Lochinvar Forest hunting area as kiwi are present.
Huts
Note: Nigger and Lake Grace huts are not on DOC administered land. They are privately owned and not available for public use.

Hunters are advised to check for current pesticide operations that may be in progress where they intend to hunt.
