Lochiel hunting

Located in North Canterbury & Arthur’s Pass hunting in the Canterbury region

A 4,251 hectare hunting area near the Organ range in the Rangiora district.

About this hunting block

General information

The Lochiel Conservation area is 4,250 hectares and about 15 km from Hanmer Springs.

It's a mixture of short tussock grassland, scrub, shrublands and forest and is generally quite steep. The area rises to some high rocky tops, sharply dissected by a few major gullies and streams.

Access

The area is landlocked by private stations. 4WD vehicle access via farm tracks is at their discretion.

Helicopter access is also an option if the operator has permission from DOC to land in this area.

Dogs

Dogs are allowed but must be kept under close control and not worked until well within the hunting area, away from stock in adjacent farms.
