Hanmer Forest Park hunting

Located in North Canterbury & Arthur’s Pass hunting in the Canterbury region

This is a large hunting area between Hanmer, the Waiaui River and the Waiau Faces hunting block. The area between Dillon Stream and Jollies Pass is closed to all hunting.

About this hunting block

General information

This is a large hunting area between Hanmer, the Waiaui River and the Waiau Faces hunting block. However, the area between Dillon Stream and Jollies Pass is closed to all hunting.

The terrain is moderate to steep. Vegetation is predominantly beech forest with some shrubland, tussock and open tops.

Pigs, red deer and chamois are present in low to moderate numbers.

Other hunters and trampers may be encountered. Take precautions and identify your target.

Access

Vehicle access to the eastern part of the area is permitted on Rogerson Road as far as Dillons Stream. Once the road crosses Dillons Stream it becomes Dillon Road and is a private forestry road.

Landholders

The access routes do not require landholder permission.
