Doubtful Range hunting

Located in North Canterbury & Arthur’s Pass hunting in the Canterbury region

This hunting area covers the Doubtful Range between the Hope and Doubtful Rivers. Pigs, red deer and chamois are present in low to moderate numbers.

About this hunting block

General information

This hunting area covers the Doubtful Range between the Hope and Doubtful Rivers. 
The terrain is moderate to steep. Vegetation is predominantly beech forest with some shrubland, tussock and open tops. Pigs, red deer and chamois are present in low to moderate numbers. This is a very popular tramping and hunting area and other hunters and trampers will be encountered. Take precautions and identify your target.

Access

Foot access to the area is via the walking track that starts at Windy Point on SH7, or via the Doubtful Track that starts approximately 500 metres downstream from the mouth of the Doubtful River.

Landholders

The access routes do not require landholder permission.

Dogs are not permitted in the Lake Sumner Forest Park as kiwi are present
