• Avoid sensitive areas such as alpine areas, wetlands, waterways, sand dunes and riverbeds.
• Avoid wet tracks, which are easily damaged.
• Respect wildlife, plants, historic sites and natural features.
• Take all rubbish with you.
• Clean your vehicle before and after trips to prevent spreading weeds and diseases.
• Check access requirements, including permits and private land permissions.
• Leave gates as you find them.
• Respect other track users and keep noise to a minimum.
• Drive safely and be prepared for changing conditions.
• Plan ahead and carry appropriate equipment, food and water. In remote areas, travel with others.
