- Follow all vehicle and driver laws and regulations.
- Stay on formed roads and tracks. Do not create new tracks.
- Avoid sensitive areas such as alpine areas, wetlands, waterways, sand dunes and riverbeds.
- Avoid wet tracks, which are easily damaged.
- Respect wildlife, plants, historic sites and natural features.
- Take all rubbish with you.
- Clean your vehicle before and after trips to prevent spreading weeds and diseases.
- Check access requirements, including permits and private land permissions.
- Leave gates as you find them.
- Respect other track users and keep noise to a minimum.
- Drive safely and be prepared for changing conditions.
- Plan ahead and carry appropriate equipment, food and water. In remote areas, travel with others.
