This track starts opposite the St James carpark. It soon enters beech forest and climbs to the open tussock tops. Superb views of the surrounding mountains are available and several picturesque tarns soon come into view with further (unmarked) travel along the ridge.
Access the track from Lewis Pass on SH7.
Weather conditions can change rapidly, particularly on the tops.
