Fox Glacier

An ice-age adventure beckons. Cycle, walk or drive up the Fox Glacier Valley for an unforgettable reminder of our frozen past when the area was dominated by kilometre high glaciers (ice rivers).

  • Walk in the footsteps of the early explorers as you cross the old historic bridge.
  • Pause in the rain forest – see the thriving plant community dangling overhead?
  • Lace up the boots and strike out on the winding trail to the glacier’s snout – sound funny?
  • Keep your ear close to the ground for the kea’s call echoing up and down the valley.

Access to Fox Glacier Valley closed until further notice

There is a long term closure in place for both the Fox Glacier Valley access road and walking track.
