- Visit the extensive plant nursery for a preview of conservation in action – how many different types of plants can you count.
- Keep your eyes peeled for water and bush loving birds going about their daily routine – it’s a bird paradise.
- Discover Whakaraupuka/Ram Island – soak up the sun and take in the views.
- Help the wetlands coordinator by weeding around newly planted trees. You might see him working with volunteers somewhere in the wetland – if so, say hello, he doesn’t bite.

The Sinclair Wetlands/Te Nohoaka o Tukiauau is a 315 ha portion of the Lakes Waihola and Waipori wetland complex 50 km south of Dunedin. Access is clearly sign-posted from SH1 at Henley and Clarendon.

About Sinclair Wetlands
- There is a toilet and good parking by the Education Centre at the entrance to the site.
- There are sites for tents and powered sites for campervans.
- Canoes, kayaks or rowboats can be launched from the grassy picnic area on Clarendon-Berwick road. Make contact with the wetlands coordinator when planning a boat trip (Glen +64 274 240 224 or +64 3 486 2654) – at certain times boat access is restricted to ensure it is a safe time to enter the wetlands.
- Your safety is your own responsibility, and lifejackets must be worn. Motorised boats are prohibited.
