Kiwi Guardians at Otago Central Rail Trail
IntroductionPack a picnic, grab your bicycles, and set off to explore this very scenic stretch of New Zealand rail history.
- Admire the Central Otago landscape as you cycle past land rich in native grey shrubland and rugged schist bluffs.
- As you pass over towering bridges and explore dark tunnels, consider the extreme challenges faced by those who had to build them. Make sure you bring a torch.
- Keep your eyes peeled for kārearea – New Zealand’s native falcon.
