- As you pass over towering bridges and explore dark tunnels, consider the extreme challenges faced by those who had to build them. Make sure you bring a torch.
- Keep your eyes peeled for kārearea – New Zealand’s native falcon.

Getting there: The Kiwi Guardians stretch of the cycle trail starts at Lauder Station on SH 85, between Ranfurly and Alexandra. It ends on Thurlow Road. There is parking at both ends.
Time needed: 2 hr one way walking, 1 hr one way mountain biking
