Introduction
Discover the wonders of our native flora and fauna at this idyllic bird sanctuary - explore Kapiti’s precious ancient forest remnant and look out for tui, bellbird, fantail, grey warbler and kereru; spot the kiwi and tuatara in their enclosures; get up close to kaka, kea and kākāriki in the walk-through aviaries.- Up to 60 different bird species come and go around the wetlands, bush and surroundings – how many can you spot?
- Test your night-vision in the nocturnal house – can you spy the kiwi, morepork and tuatara?
- Join the daily feeding (2 pm) of the free ranging eels.
- Pack a picnic – there are loads of great spots.

Getting there: Ngā Manu is in Waikanae. Follow the signs off SH1, turn down Park Avenue, then left onto Ngarara Road. Just after the bridge over SH1, turn right onto Ngā Manu Reserve Road and continue to the car park.
