Hawkes Lookout Walk

Located in Kahurangi National Park and Motueka area in the Nelson/Tasman region

A short walk past rock formations to a lookout with excellent views.

This short walk passes dramatic rock formations and sinkholes, which are part of the special karst landscape of Tākaka Hill. The track leads to a viewing platform. This overlooks the Riuwaka River and has spectacular views of Tasman Bay and the mountains of the Richmond Range and Kahurangi National Park.

Supervise children and keep to the track at all times. There are deep, hidden sinkholes and unstable, sharp rock formations.

Hawkes Lookout is on State Highway 60, around 14 km from Riwaka town.

Camping is prohibited. Fires are not allowed.
