Milford Sound/Piopiotahi is in the northwest of Fiordland National Park. Milford Road from Te Anau to Milford Sound is one of New Zealand's most scenic drives.
The Routeburn Track was damaged from flooding in February 2020, however can be walked as a 4-day 3-night return experience .
The northern end of the Milford Track is closed due to severe damage from flooding in February 2020, however the southern section can be walked as a 3-day, 2-night hike.
Vast tussock-covered ridgelines and spectacular alpine vistas contrast with peaceful lakeside and valley beech forest in this wilderness adventure.
Fiordland National Park (established in 1952) has spectacular ice-carved fiords, lakes and valleys, rugged granite tops and pristine mountain to sea vistas.
