Introduction

There are limited instances where refunds may be issued for Taupō fishing licences impacted by COVID 19. These will be treated on a case by case basis.

We understand the lockdown period has been an inconvenience for some purchasers of a Taupō fishing licence. However, in alignment with other fishing regions throughout New Zealand, refunds or extensions are generally not available.

There are limited instances where refunds may be issued. The below criteria will help you understand if this might apply to yours. These will be treated on a case by case basis.

International purchasers

If you live outside of New Zealand, bought a Taupō fishing licence and are now unable to travel here, you may qualify for a refund.

However, if you have already travelled to New Zealand and fished during the 2019/2020 season you won’t be eligible.

Licences bought for use during lockdown

New Zealand residents who purchased any of the following prior to lockdown for use during the lockdown period may be eligible for a refund:

  • Adult Day licence
  • Child Day licence
  • Adult week

Licenses bought for the season

If you purchased a licence for the whole season (valid until 30 June 2020) prior to COVID restrictions, no refunds, credits or extensions can be offered.

This applies to:

  • adult season license
  • child season license
  • family season license
  • senior season license
