Cameron Hut

This is a basic nine-bunk hut in the Mid & South Canterbury area.Facilities

Canterbury Mountaineering Club hut.
The hut sits amongst piles of moraine from the Cameron Glacier and has stunning views of the Arrowsmith Range.

- Free for Canterbury Mountaineering Club (CMC) members.

Backcountry Hut Passes and Backcountry Hut Tickets cannot be used at this hut.
Cameron Hut is 6 hours (15.6 km) up the Cameron valley on a marked route.
To reach Cameron valley, drive past Mt Arrowsmith Station on Hakatere Heron Road for about 1.6 km. Just past a gravel pit, follow an unmarked 4WD track for about 1.4 km to the start of the route up the true right of the valley.

Cameron Hut is subject to a low level of avalanche risk. The risk is possible during heavy snowfall years, particularly when there is snow on the ground around the hut during major storms or 24 hours afterwards.
