This is an easy track through beautiful native bush alive with birdsong. Plant identification labels and story panels give detailed information about the area.

This is a well-formed track over undulating terrain. It's steep in places but a relatively short loop.

Lake Tikitapu/Blue lake is situated 9 km south - east of Rotorua, via Te Ngae Road then Tarawera Road. As the lake comes into view there will be a large grassed area on your left. Park and follow the signs across this to the start of the track.
