Aongatete Nature Trail

Located in Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park in the Bay of Plenty region

This family-friendly loop takes you through a lowland forest area. There are interpretative signs about the local environment.

The track begins at the car park at the end of Wright Road. Follow the signposted direction towards the loop tracks, until you come to a track junction. Here there is a signpost which will point you towards a 15-minute nature trail loop.

This family-friendly short loop takes you through a lowland forest area and provides interpretive signage to explain the local environment. You will also learn about the forest layers, geology of the Kaimai Range, conservation and pests.

At the end of the loop, return back to the car park the way you came.

The Aongatete tracks start at the car park at the end of Wright Road, off SH 2 between Tauranga and Katikati, towards the Aongatete Outdoor Education Lodge. Park in the car park before the gate to the lodge.

You cannot go to the lodge as it is not public land. Contact the lodge manager to organise access.

The quickest access to the Nature Walk, enter the short loop track in an anti-clockwise direction.

There are toilets at the entrance of the carpark.

Lock your car and leave valuables out of sight

The car park is located in a remote location so its important your vehicle is left secured. Make sure it is locked and that all valuables are out of sight.
