Resident
You are a resident if you have the right to permanently live in New Zealand because you are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
Non-resident
You are a non-resident if you are not a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
The terms New Zealand citizen and permanent resident are defined in section 4 of the Immigration Act 2009.
You only need a Lake Rotoaira fishing licence if fishing there.
These licences apply to Lake Taupō fishing district – Lake Taupō and the tributaries flowing into Lake Taupō. No refunds if you buy a licence you don't need.
Get a ramp permit if using a ramp.
For fishing outside of Lake Taupō, see Fish & Game New Zealand.
