Rules for visitors

Dogs and other domestic animals are not allowed in the national park. This has become particularly important since the reintroduction of kiwi as dogs are known killers of kiwi.

Mountain bikes are not permitted in the national park.

Please keep to the tracks so as not to damage vegetation and to avoid toxins and traps used to kill pests.

How to volunteer

The Friends of Rotoiti is a community group that formed to extend and support the Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project with their own trap lines and programme of work. They are often looking for helpers.

There are also regular opportunities for volunteer involvement with the Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project team.
