Summary

The overall aim of this study was to develop a species specific genetic 'toolkit' for Buller's Albatross to;

1) determine levels of genetic variation between Northern and Southern Buller's Albatross, and,

2) develop a genetic marker for determining the provenance of individuals.

The findings support the conclusion that Northern and Southern Buller's Albatross are genetically differentiated populations, and show that assignment to source is possible using short CRII sequences as a tool.
