DOC is reviewing the 2004 Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park Management Plan and is inviting people to register their interest and to provide suggestions on aspects of the park’s management they want considered in the review.
DOC will carry out the review in close consultation with our Treaty partner Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and the Canterbury Aoraki Conservation Board.
“Invested with Tōpuni status, containing our highest peaks, dramatic landscapes, special alpine animals and plants and some of our biggest recreational challenges, Aoraki is an iconic part of New Zealand,” says DOC Aoraki/Mount Cook Operations Manager Mike Davies.
“We want to hear from as many people as possible on what is important to them about the park and how they want this reflected in the next management plan.”
People wanting to be part of the plan review process and to receive updates, including information about upcoming public meetings and workshops, can email aorakinp@doc.govt.nz or call +64 3 371 3700.
