Kiwi aversion training for dogs, games and activities for all the family, a library display highlighting local conservation volunteer efforts as well as a bird pelting workshop (for making cloaks / korowai) – just part of Conservation Week in the Bay of Islands.
Helen Ough Dealy, Community Relations Ranger, Bay of Islands office, Department of Conservation says, ”There is so much going on for Conservation Week in the Bay of Islands that the events and activities have spilled over into the weeks following Conservation Week.”
As well as the numerous activities organised for specific groups, the following events are open for anyone interested in taking part.
- 17 September: Manu huruhuru (bird pelting) workshop, 9.30am - 3.30pm at Russell
- 17 September: Kiwi aversion training for dogs, 9.30am at Puketi Forest Headquarters
- 25 September: Conservation stall and games, 11.00am - 2.00pm at Springbank School Fair, Waipapa
- 26 September - 9 October: Vanna be a volunteer? Display of local voluntary conservation groups at Kerikeri Library.
