Minister of Conservation Kate Wilkinson and Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Phil Heatley today welcomed the release of the recommendation report from the West Coast Marine Protection Forum.
The report outlines a series of options for marine protection on the West Coast of the South Island.
“The report contains a great level of detail and I would like to thank the Forum for the considerable amount of effort they have put into this process over the past five years,” Ms Wilkinson says.
The Minister’s have asked their respective officials to provide advice on this report and will then be considering the recommendations.
“Working through this process takes time and commitment and we look forward to hearing the views of stakeholders on the different options that the Forum has proposed,” says Mr Heatley.
