Minister of Conservation Hon Kate Wilkinson today announced the appointments to the Otago Conservation Board.Date: 23 December 2010
Minister of Conservation Hon Kate Wilkinson today announced the appointments to the Otago Conservation Board. “I am pleased to reappoint Garry Nixon of Alexandra and Iris Scott of Glenorchy to the Otago Conservation Board”.
Mr Nixon has in-depth knowledge of the Otago high country and Mt Aspiring National Park. He has a specialist interest in alpine flora. His outdoor interests are skiing, climbing, mountain biking, kayaking and tramping.
Ms Scott is a high country farmer, pastoral lessee and adjoining neighbour of Mt Aspiring National Park. She has a good knowledge of the issues relating to conservation, recreation and tourism in the Upper Wakatipu Basin. She enjoys nature study, bat surveying, occasional tramping and pest eradication.
“I am also pleased to appoint Gordon Bailey of Queenstown and Francie Diver of Alexandra”.
Ms Diver is a nominee of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu.
Mr Bailey is Park’s Manager for Queenstown Lakes District Council. He has a specialist interest in native plants. His outdoor interests are mountain biking, walking and running.
The Minister thanked outgoing members Ross Allan and Hoani Langsbury for their significant contribution to the Otago Conservation Board.
