The competition was a joint initiative between the Department of Conservation and Turanga FM in Gisborne.

The Best Composition Competition concluded what was a successful Sea Week and attracted 10 entries. Entrants were encouraged to use their vocal skills and suggested they could record a poem, a song, even a haka but must include the words "Fish for the Future."

The standard of entries in the Best Composition was extremely high and the judges were really impressed.

There were three winners in the English section, 1st place: Daniel Strange, 2nd place: D J Knight, 3rd place: Joe Amstad - MTC, one winner in the Maori section: 57 and one highly commended: Room 4 Mangapapa School.

You can listen to the winners on Turanga FM between 3 and 4 pm on Wednesday 31 March and Thursday 1st April.
