Introduction

Minister of Conservation Hon Kate Wilkinson today announced the appointments to the Canterbury Aoraki Conservation Board.

Minister of Conservation Hon Kate Wilkinson today announced the appointments to the Canterbury Aoraki Conservation Board. “I am pleased to reappoint Joseph Hullen of Kaiapoi, Frances Waaka-Home of Oamaru and Jimmy Wallace of Geraldine to the Canterbury Aoraki Conservation Board”.

Mr Hullen and Ms Waaka-Home are the nominees of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu. Ms Waaka-Home has eco-tourism and conservation interests. Her outdoor interests are fishing, whitebaiting and kayaking.

Mr Wallace is a solicitor. He has good knowledge of the South Canterbury region and the community. He is involved in pest control and restoration of lowland forest on his property. His outdoor interest is hiking.

“I am also pleased to appoint Alan Grey of Christchurch and Neil Hamilton of Rangiora”.

Mr Grey works for NIWA. He has sound understanding of the policy, biosecurity and biodiversity strategies and government agencies’ processes. His outdoor interests are skiing, climbing and tramping.

Mr Hamilton has previously worked with government agencies, national and regional government departments on national scale projects. His outdoor interests are mountaineering, back-country skiing, tramping, kayaking and scuba-diving.
