Description
Nestled in native bush beside the Papatowai Campsite is an old DOC ranger house, which has easy access to the beautiful beach and estuary. Nearby is the Tahakopa Bay Scenic Reserve and many bush walks.
Volunteers will help with general maintenace around the Papatowai Campsite as well as at various other sites throughout the Catlins. Tasks may include painting, minor building repairs, cleaning camp facilities, weeding, trimming vegetation and track maintenance.
What to expect
Fitness/skill level
Low to medium fitness level. Painting, decorating and carpentry skills would be useful on this trip.
Accommodation
Fully furnished, three-bedroom DOC house at Papatowai. A hot shower and laundry facilities are available, and all kitchen appliances and equipment are provided.
Pickup/drop-off location and times
Meet at the Papatowai Campsite at 9:30 am on Monday 22 February. The activity will finish at 4:00 pm on Friday 26 February.
Contribution towards food and transport
$150 per person.
