Motuihe island volunteering
Volunteer for five days at a time to support the island ranger. We encourage you to apply with a friend or partner.

DOC-led volunteering is 5-days, usually Monday to Friday. Volunteers travel to the Motu on the DOC supply boat. Six hours mahi a day are expected on tasks to support the island ranger. We place volunteers in pairs. 

Tasks

Tasks may include:

  • mowing, scrub bar trimming, weeding
  • track and drain maintenance
  • tools maintenance
  • workshop tidy and stocktake
  • cleaning house interior
  • exterior painting of house or buildings including preparation  
  • building maintenance
  • waste management
  • chipping oysters shells off the wharf
  • beach clean up
  • support for the Motuihe Restoration Trust.
