Alborns Skink Male.
Secure the future of the Alborn skink
Donate to help save the only known population of Alborn skink in the Victoria Forest Park near Reefton. Alborn skink is found nowhere else on earth.

Why we need to do this work

The Alborn skink is only found in one location and is at high risk of extinction. The population is estimated to be between 40-100 individuals and is classified as Threatened - Nationally Critical

Project goals

The project aims to secure the future of the Alborn skink by:

  • building a predator proof fence around its only known habitat in the Victoria Forest Park
  • developing a new, low-cost method to manage the impacts of mice which will help the recovery of other vulnerable lizard species.
