Introduction

Have your say on an application by South Canterbury Museum to take and hold marine mammal remains for use in public exhibition, research, and education programmes. Submissions closed 21 October 2022.

Pursuant to section 5 (5) of the Marine Mammals Protection Act 1978, and to a delegation from the Minister of Conservation, the Operations Manager, Geraldine, Department of Conservation notifies that they have received a permit application from South Canterbury Museum to take and hold marine mammal remains for public exhibition, research, and education purposes.

A permit under the Act is required to authorise activity outside of Part 3 of the Marine Mammal Protection Regulations.
