This fund supports biodiversity restoration projects on private land that create jobs.


The Jobs for Nature Private Land Biodiversity Fund is a one-off fund of $18 million, available for biodiversity restoration work on private land to create nature-based employment.

You can apply for grants of between $300,000 and $1 million (in total), if your organisation has a project working with private landowners that creates temporary employment for up to 3 years.

How to apply

1. Check your project is eligible for funding

2. Send in your application

Applications to the fund can only be submitted between 14 January 2021 and 1 pm 16 February 2021

If you are eligible, send us your application:

  1. Complete the Application form (DOCX, 501K).
  2. Email to PLBF@doc.govt.nz

Important dates

  • 14 January 2021 – Fund opens.
  • 16 February 2021 – Fund closes.
  • March 2021 – Applicants notified of funding decisions
