Hawke's Bay Nature Fund
The aim of the fund is to create and protect areas of habitat rich in flora and fauna across Hawke's Bay, through predator control and revegetation.

This fund was created through a generous bequest to DOC Hawke’s Bay.

Approximately $500,000 will be allocated annually to projects of $25,000 and over. Projects can be up to three years and must demonstrate nature-based solutions to some of the region’s environmental challenges. They must have a commitment to long-term project sustainability.

The focus area will change every three years to spread the funding opportunities throughout the Hawke’s Bay district.

The fund is managed by the Eastern and Central Community Trust.

Community groups, private landowners, iwi, and agencies throughout Hawke’s Bay can apply for the funding. Applications will be assessed by an expert panel including representatives from DOC, iwi and the community.

The fund opens for applications 4 August 2025 and closes 26 September 2025.
