Introduction

On Sunrise and Swamp tracks in Ruahine Forest Park students can examine different forest types and identify bird species.

    Sunrise and Swamp tracks are located about 100 km from Napier in the Eastern Ruahine Forest Park.

    Sunrise Hut Track is one of the most popular tracks in the park, particularly with family and school groups. The high quality walking track makes its way through changing forest types to the open tops with superb views of the Hawke’s Bay plains.

    On Sunrise and Swamp tracks students can examine different forest types and identify bird species amongst other things. The teaching resource provides background information on the history, biodiversity and conservation management of Sunrise and Swamp tracks and environs.
