Introduction

The Game Animal Council represents the game animal hunting sector.

The Game Animal Council is a statutory body established on 28 November 2013 under the Game Animal Council Act 2013. It represents the interests of the hunting sector and improves the management of hunting resources while contributing to positive conservation outcomes.

Nominations to the Council

The Minister is seeking to appoint members to the council who will collectively have knowledge and experience relating to game animals (recreational and commercial hunting, deer farming, hunting-related tourism), farming generally, forestry, kaitiakitanga, nature conservation, and scientific disciplines. Public governance experience is also essential.

Written nominations may be made by any person or organisation. Appointments will take effect from 1 December 2018, and will be for a term of up to three years.
