PICK UP THREE FOR THE SEA
Each time you're at the beach, make it a habit to pick up three pieces of plastic.
9 out of 10 seabirds have plastic in their stomach.

WHAT YOU
CAN DO
-
Every time you go to the beach, aim to pick up at least three pieces of plastic. Even better, bring a rubbish bag, and see if you can fill it.
-
Look out for fishing lines and nets, plastic bags and bottles, and smaller items. Marine animals can get tangled up in lines and nets. Seabirds will eat almost anything if they mistake it for food.
-
Every time you say no to a single-use plastic, you’re doing our oceans a solid. You know the deal – fill up a drink bottle and remember your reusable cup.

HOW YOU'LL
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
If every Kiwi picks up three pieces of plastic every time they go to the beach, there will be 360 million fewer plastics in our oceans in a year.
New Zealand has about 80 seabird species. 90% of them are in serious trouble. Seabirds here are more at risk from ocean plastic than anywhere else in the world.
Each piece of plastic you remove from the ocean environment helps nature. It’s one less plastic for an albatross to feed to its chick. It’s one less plastic to poison our oceans.
And let’s be honest – rubbish is ugly, our country is beautiful. Let’s keep it that way.
ARE YOU IN?
It takes everyone to make a difference for nature. Every little bit helps.
NATURE'S IN
TROUBLE
Thousands of our native species are heading towards extinction, but it’s not too late to save them.
All around New Zealand, Kiwis are bringing nature back.
