NZCA's comment on the PCE report: Focussing Aotearoa New Zealand’s environmental reporting system

At the New Zealand Conservation Authority’s December 2019 meeting, the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment’s recent report 'Focussing Aotearoa New Zealand’s environmental reporting system', was discussed.

The Authority commends Simon Upton on his report; it provides an accurate evaluation of the current state of environmental reporting in New Zealand and highlights the importance of having a system of high quality.

The report has provided a necessary platform for discussion. The Authority supports the report and would endorse amendments to the Environmental Reporting Act 2015, as the PCE has recommended, especially, at the very least, those that do not require legislative change.
