NZCA's advice on the PCE report:Focusing Aotearoa New Zealand’s environmental reporting system
8 January 2020: Read the NZCA's advice to the Minister of Conservation on the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environments’ report 'Focusing Aotearoa New Zealand’s environmental reporting system'

To:  Hon Eugenie Sage, Minister of Conservation
Date:  8 January 2020

At the Authority’s December 2019 meeting, there was significant discussion around the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environments’ recent report Focusing Aotearoa New Zealand’s environmental reporting system. The Authority would like to reiterate our support for the discussion platform this report advocates.

The Authority has since written to Hon David Parker and Simon Upton in support of the report, and to endorse the suggested recommendations, particularly, at the very least, those recommendations that do not require legislative change.

I am interested to know your stance on this report in further detail, and to enquire as to the ability to implement legislative change to the Environmental Reporting Act 2015. The Authority find that these are the recommendations that will invoke the most significant steps to implementing an environmental reporting system of a higher quality.
