Wellington marine information CD

More than 150 maps and 1350 references on Wellington’s marine environment, spanning more than a century, can be accessed via this marine resource, developed by the Department of Conservation.

It is intended for everyone with an interest in the Wellington Coastal Marine Area (CMA), particularly those involved in coastal and marine conservation, planning, management and research.

The marine environment is under increasing pressure from use and development. Good decision making, about our activities, is dependent on knowing what information is available about a place or subject of interest.

This resource will add value, whether the need is specific, such as in relation to a resource consent or broader, such as developing a network of marine protected areas. Community groups may also find this a useful means of identifying marine information available in their patch. It's hoped that researchers will pick up on information gaps or see opportunities for reviews on certain topics.

The development of this resource is an ongoing process. We welcome feedback, via the link on the CD, as there are sure to be gaps in the information. Our aim is to update the resource in the future and make it available online.

You won't require an internet connection to use it, but it links to additional information that can be viewed if you have internet access.
