Save the Kiwi
Working in partnership with DOC since 1991, Save the Kiwi has raised and distributed more than $7 million to kiwi conservation projects across New Zealand.

The kiwi is New Zealand's national bird, and its future survival is of great concern not only to New Zealanders but internationally.

In 1991, DOC partnered with the Bank of New Zealand and Forest & Bird to launch the Kiwi Recovery Programme. Today, Save the Kiwi continues that legacy. Founded in 2012, the national charity works hand in hand with whānau, hapū, iwi, DOC, and kiwi conservation groups all over New Zealand to supercharge kiwi populations and reverse the decline of the kiwi quickly.

Save the Kiwi funds many kiwi conservation groups and initiatives using funding sourced from local government, sponsorship partnerships, and donations from individuals.
