The five year partnership will connect Kiwi kids with New Zealand’s natural environment and inspire them to take action for nature in their back yards and communities. For Toyota, this is part of an ongoing commitment to help grow and support the best of Kiwi life.
New Zealanders are increasingly living sedentary lives and spending more time on screens, meaning the connection to nature within our future generations is under threat. Studies have shown there are positive links between direct experiences in nature and children’s mental, emotional and physical health and well-being.
DOC and Toyota will work together to motivate Kiwi kids and their families to get out and explore the special places that are right on their doorstep.
The partnership programme is Kiwi Guardians and was lauched in March 2016.
