This brochure describes the tracks in the Whataroa, Butler, and Perth valleys, and provides information about the area including how to get there.

Summary

These river valleys offer hunters, trampers, kayakers and mountaineers many challenging opportunities and rewards.

The forest, which is dominated by southern rātā, kāmahi, Quintinia/tāwheowheo and Hall's tōtara, gives way to dense alpine scrub, grasslands, herbfields, bare rock and ice at higher altitudes.

The brochure provides an introduction to the area including how to get there, and information about hunting and dogs.
