Find out what the Greymouth area offers in the way of tracks and walks.

Summary

The Greymouth area provides a multitude of recreational opportunities, some of which are managed by the Grey District Council. There are many short walks and places to visit and for those with a sense of adventure there are longer tramps. You can enjoy picnicking, swimming, boating and camping as well.

The Central West Coast has a long history of settlement, development, farming and extractive industries which have provided a number of historical areas that are rich in historic remains and offer glimpses of past lifestyles.

Lowland landscapes around this central area also provide good habitat for many birds. Visitors will be able to see common species such as tui and a few species that are not so common such as weka.
