Paparoa National Park: Punakaiki area walks brochure

Published:

June 2011

Browse through this brochure to learn about the walking opportunities in Paparoa National Park, located at Punakaiki on the West Coast of the South Island.

Summary

Punakaiki is well known for its pancake rocks and blowholes. It is also the centre for Paparoa National Park which features landscapes from mountains to the sea.

This brochure provides information about the walking opportunities available including times, distances, and a short description of the walk. There are short walks of around 15 minutes in length to two day walks. Many tracks pass through densely forested karst limestone areas which are the essence of the Park.

Some of the walks involve crossing rivers and walking down creek bed. Please check with the staff at the Punakaiki Visitor Centre for the latest safety information.
