Ahuriri Conservation Park contains over 49,000 hectares of rugged mountain country, wetlands, tussocklands and beech/tawhai forest between Lakes Ohau and Hawea in the South Island.

Summary

The upper Ahuriri valley is the heart of the park and is reached along Birchwood Road, which leaves State Highway 8 between Twizel and Omarama. There is two-wheel drive access to the park boundary and then four-wheel drive access to a carpark just before Canyon Creek.

The Te Araroa track. a walking trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff, travels through the park.
