Wellington Conservation Board Annual Report 2004-2005 - 9. Liaison

9. Liaison

The board has continued to have a positive relationship with Greater Wellington: The Regional Council through its co-opted member Councillor Hugh Barr initially, then through his replacement, Sally Baber. The board considers that this liaison contributes to a close association with the council on many matters which are of mutual interest to the board and the council.

The chairperson has continued to represent the board on the Mount Bruce Wildlife Centre Trust Board. The chairperson and Bill Carter have maintained an active liaison role with the Kapiti Marine Reserve Committee, attending their meetings when possible. The board receives reports at its meetings on the issues before the committee. The liaison roles with these bodies is a very useful and informative way for the board to keep in touch.

Board minutes and agendas have continued to be distributed throughout the board's district as well as to neighbouring conservation boards. This is an important way of communicating with people and organisations that have a shared interest in conservation values and ensures feedback is continuing.
