On 22 November 2008 the Department of Conservation notified the first draft Rakiura National Park Management Plan and revised Stewart Island/Rakiura Conservation Management Strategy.
Draft revised Stewart Island/Rakiura Conservation Management Strategy (SIRCMS)
This CMS has been revised in accordance with section 17(H) of the Conservation Act 1987. This statutory document sets out the Department's strategic intent for the management of all public conservation lands and waters in the Stewart Island/Rakiura CMS area.
Draft Rakiura National Park Management Plan (RNPMP)
This draft management plan for Rakiura National Park has been prepared in accordance with sections 46 and 47 of the National Parks Act 1980. It provides for the management of Rakiura National Park in accordance with the Act and General Policy.
Both documents have been prepared in consultation with the public and with representatives from tāngata whenua, the Southland Conservation Board and other interested people and organisations.
