2011-2012 operational plan for tahr control
The Canterbury Conservancy operational plan is produced annually. It identifies how tahr is to be managed, and where necessary controlled within the region.
Conservancy operational plan is written in accordance with the Wild Animal Control Act (1977), National Parks Act (1980), Conservation Act (1987), General Policies, and the Himalayan Thar Control Plan (1993).
The operational plan applies to the whole of the Canterbury Conservancy, from the Waitaki watershed in the south to the Conway River in the north. This plan will apply to all land in Canterbury irrespective of tenure, whilst having regard to the provisions of any Act applying to the land.
Operational delivery and responsibility
Twizel Area Office will be the lead office for all tahr operational delivery to maintain consistency across Canterbury.
