Argentine ants, stopping the spread - factsheet

Published:

March 2007

This factsheet provides information on how to identify Argentine ants, what actions to take if you notice an infestation, and how you can help prevent spreading them elsewhere.

Summary

Argentine ants are often accidentally gifted by a friend or neighbour when they "hitch a ride" on items such as plants, other garden materials, firewood or building supplies. Make checking for Argentine ants routine.

They're a health hazard, a business threat, and a threat to our environment. You need to take immediate action if you notice an infestation as there is a better chance of control while
numbers are less.
